The Mental Health Support Specialist 2 operates as a vital member of the Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) healthcare team, contributing to a specialized Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) multi-disciplinary team. The focus is on ensuring individuals with severe and persistent mental health issues and/or substance use disorders receive timely, responsive, and evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation across various services.
Responsibilities include providing life skills training, advocacy, supportive counseling, and psychosocial rehabilitation planning, as well as general support for clients residing in their own housing.
Working within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework, and guided by existing psychiatric and health professional assessments, the Mental Health Support Specialist 2 is responsible for basic case management, establishing rehabilitation goals, and creating psychosocial rehabilitation plans for the designated client populations. Engaging clients in diverse community settings as empowered individuals and meaningful partners in their service planning, delivery, and evaluation is essential.
Shifts are available during the day and evening, typically from 12:00 to 22:00 hours. This is a casual position, meaning there are no guaranteed hours, and work requirements may vary weekly. Many careers with us begin with casual employment and can lead to permanent or temporary opportunities.

Education, Training, and Experience:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Diploma in a relevant field
- Two years of recent experience working with clients facing mental health and/or substance use challenges; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid B.C. Driver's License
