Key Responsibilities:


The Mental Health Support Specialist 2 operates as part of the broader Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) healthcare team, contributing to a specialized Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) multi-disciplinary team. The primary aim is to ensure individuals with severe and persistent mental health issues and/or substance use disorders receive timely, responsive, and evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation across a spectrum of available services.

Responsibilities include providing life skills training, advocacy, supportive counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation planning, and general support for clients residing in their own homes.


Working within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework, and informed by existing psychiatric and health professional assessments, the Mental Health Support Specialist 2 offers basic case management, establishes rehabilitation goals, and develops psychosocial rehabilitation plans for the designated client population. Engaging clients in various community settings is essential, recognizing them as individuals with full potential and as active participants in their service planning, delivery, and evaluation.

Scheduling Details:

Shifts will include days and evenings, with working hours from 12:00 to 22:00. This is a casual position, meaning there are no guaranteed hours, and work requirements may vary weekly. Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Diploma in a relevant field
  • Two years of recent related experience working with the designated client population experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Current valid Driver's License
