The Opportunity:

The City of Red Deer is seeking a skilled professional to fill the permanent full-time position of Customer Experience Ambassador – City Hall. This role will provide a welcoming first impression to customers in person, on the telephone, or electronically when they interact with the City. The primary duty of the Ambassador is to help customers/visitors feel welcome and determine how best to assist them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to citizens and visitors, ensuring a positive experience for all.
  • Proactively engage with citizens and customers as they enter City Hall, directing them to the appropriate location for their City business or contact the parties they are meeting with.
  • Maintain awareness of current programs offered by the City, as well as special events and downtown programming.
  • Keep up-to-date with and provide visitors with accurate information about the city, and the services and programs available through the City.
  • Ability to be assertive and to deal with aggressive or unpleasant behavior either face-to-face or over the phone with difficult customers.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of the City, its programs and services, and the ability to maintain awareness of current programs and events.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, respectfully, and clearly.
  • Basic computer skills with Word, One Note, Teams, Excel, and familiarity with reddeer.ca.
  • Ability to work independently in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ability to take customer suggestions and provide internal feedback to enhance department and corporation procedures.
  • Ability to attain Current Standard First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Level 'C'.

Remuneration:

$27.61 to $29.06 per hour

Hours of Work:

75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.
