Job Title: Electrical Control Systems Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Control Systems Designer to join our team at ATS Automation. As an Electrical Control Systems Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical control systems for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical control systems for our customers, including detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions.
  • Work with mechanical designers to design control systems that enable machines to perform their intended functions safely and reliably.
  • Formulate and produce complete electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices.
  • Work with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology.
  • Specify all electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisitions for material purchases.
  • Integrate third-party equipment and electronic component entry into electrical design packages.
  • Verify that electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards.
  • Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide customers with complete, functional systems.
  • Provide customers with training specific to their current project.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Qualifications:

Education:

A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.

Experience:

Three years of experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field. A working knowledge of ePlan and AutoCAD and the ability to keep abreast of leading-edge technology is essential.
