Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing substantial information from diverse sources simultaneously. Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical for effective dispatching during both emergency situations and routine operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee and utilize alarm systems, radios, telephones, emails, and digital platforms to dispatch and coordinate operational personnel, maintenance teams, and emergency services, ensuring continuous safety and security on Sea Island.
- Assess priorities, delegate tasks, and communicate effectively with colleagues, internal and external contractors, governmental bodies, and stakeholders.
- Accurately document detailed information regarding all operations occurring on Sea Island.
- Maintain a current and thorough understanding of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Incident Command related to airside, terminal-side, and groundside operations.
- Skillfully manage multiple tasks and emergencies simultaneously while documenting activities in Maximo.
- Address inquiries from customers and the general public through various communication channels.
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience in a dispatch or call-taking role, or relevant aviation experience, complemented by a minimum of a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required; knowledge of an additional language is advantageous.
- Familiarity with various computer applications is essential (Maximo, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Everbridge, Barco Sidebar, Adobe, etc.), along with fast typing skills, strong grammar, and accurate spelling.
- Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Capable of making swift decisions with limited information and prioritizing tasks efficiently without direct supervision.
- Must exhibit confidence, resilience, strong multitasking abilities, a calm demeanor, and a collaborative spirit.
This position is available to both internal employees of the Vancouver Airport Authority and external candidates. Previous job performance will be considered for all internal applicants.
Compensation: The salary range is $68,011 to $88,886 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week, tailored to reflect individual experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
