Opportunity Overview:

This role is pivotal in overseeing a significant healthcare redevelopment initiative valued at $1.8 billion, which encompasses the expansion of a regional hospital and its associated projects. Reporting directly to the Senior Project Director, this position involves managing a project of extraordinary complexity and scale, characterized by three distinct phases. The project includes the construction of a new inpatient tower that will integrate seamlessly with existing hospital infrastructure, alongside the establishment of a new power facility to support all utilities on-site. Concurrently, a separate public-private partnership (P3) will be developed to create an ambulatory care facility at the same location. Following the completion of these facilities, extensive renovations will be undertaken to enhance existing hospital spaces, thereby improving clinical support services.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Program Lead is tasked with delivering strategic leadership and mentorship across various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering, within the context of a large-scale healthcare redevelopment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in hospital design, construction, and commissioning, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between built environments and the multifaceted services provided to patients and healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing standards and best practices to ensure successful project outcomes aligned with organizational goals.
  • Building and guiding a team of skilled technical professionals to address complex engineering challenges, both known and unforeseen.
  • Fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture that prioritizes continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Providing real-time guidance on intricate technical issues within a dynamic project setting, requiring adept navigation of organizational priorities and resource management.

This role demands a proactive approach to managing overlapping demands from various stakeholders, including users, consultants, and project teams, all while maintaining a focus on timely delivery of essential healthcare services.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a registered Professional Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in building design, construction, and commissioning within healthcare environments. They will have demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities, along with a proven track record in managing complex healthcare construction projects. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for cultivating relationships with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, planners, and contractors.

Additional Skills:

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical for presenting complex concepts to a broad audience, including executive leadership. The Engineering Program Lead must exhibit strategic thinking and foresight, enabling them to influence project outcomes by anticipating potential challenges. This position involves direct oversight of three specialized technical reports and collaboration with clinical and operational experts to ensure optimal project design and execution.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in the commissioning of sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and control systems, particularly within a complex healthcare framework, is highly desirable.
