As the Chief Executive Officer, you will be the principal leader and spokesperson for the Golden Circle. Your responsibilities will include overseeing financial and personnel management, enhancing member experiences, fostering external relations, and advocating for the organization.

This position calls for a visionary leader with outstanding management capabilities and a profound commitment to the mission of the Golden Circle. You will be instrumental in steering the organization towards its objectives, ensuring operational effectiveness, promoting growth, and nurturing positive relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Board Support:

  • Acts as the professional advisor to the Board of Directors, aiding them in fulfilling their governance responsibilities and enhancing board performance through recruitment, orientation, and development.
  • Provides timely and accurate information to facilitate informed decision-making and governance oversight.
  • Assists the Board in defining the strategic direction for the organization and collaborates with the Board Chair and Committee Chairs to focus on strategic objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains a productive relationship with the Board of Directors, providing necessary information and support.
  • Assists the Board in implementing and monitoring relevant policies and procedures.

2. Strategic Leadership:

  • Aligns all initiatives with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Monitors industry trends, assesses risks, and identifies opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Evaluates progress on organizational goals and strategies, reporting results to the Board of Directors regularly.
  • Operationalizes and monitors the four interrelated Strategic Directions:
  1. Providing Reliable and Timely Information and Referral Services
  2. Demonstrating Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
  3. Offering Programs and Services for Learning, Participation, and Engagement
  4. Creating Opportunities for Social Connection and Enjoyment

3. Organizational Management:

  • Oversees daily operations and administration of the organization and its facilities.
  • Manages contract negotiations and administration.
  • Implements effective policies and procedures to ensure efficient workflows and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

4. People Management:

  • Provides authentic and compassionate leadership to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
  • Leads human resource planning, recruitment, selection, and training and development.
  • Coordinates performance planning and feedback to support employee growth.
  • Manages performance improvement processes, including disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Supervises and assigns work to team members, directing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Plans, schedules, and monitors job assignments to ensure the availability of resources, equipment, and materials for projects.
  • Focuses on effective team building, conflict resolution, and mentoring employees.

5. Financial Management:

  • Develops and manages the organization's budget in collaboration with the Finance Committee.
  • Creates financial sustainability through diverse fundraising strategies, sponsorship opportunities, grant writing, and donor relations.
  • Supports fundraising initiatives and develops sustainable funding streams.
  • Cultivates relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Monitors financial performance and reports regularly to the Board on fiscal health and progress toward financial objectives.

6. Membership Support:

  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with the individuals served by the Centre, including members and outreach clients.
  • Engages and promotes the Centre to potential stakeholders.
  • Solicits feedback to assess member satisfaction and opportunities for program development.
  • Facilitates ongoing communication among stakeholders and addresses member inquiries and concerns as needed.

7. External Relations and Advocacy:

  • Serves as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization, effectively representing its mission and interests to stakeholders.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders and community leaders to advance the organization's goals and influence policy.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within a non-profit organization.
  • Experience reporting to a Board of Directors.
  • Strong understanding of non-profit financial management, including budget development and fundraising strategies.
  • Experience in advertising and marketing, including social media and website management.
