Position Overview:

The Engineering Program Lead plays a pivotal role in overseeing the extensive redevelopment and enhancement of healthcare facilities, specifically focusing on large-scale projects that demand exceptional leadership and expertise. This position is integral to the management of a significant healthcare redevelopment initiative, which encompasses multiple intricate phases, including the addition of a new inpatient tower and the renovation of existing hospital spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship across various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering.
  • Establish and uphold standards and best practices to ensure successful project outcomes aligned with Alberta Health Services' mission of patient care.
  • Develop and guide a team of skilled technical professionals, addressing complex challenges and risks associated with healthcare projects.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting continuous improvement and excellence in project delivery.
  • Navigate real-time, technically complex issues within a project setting, utilizing organizational priorities to determine optimal solutions.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a Professional Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in building design, construction, and commissioning within the healthcare sector. Proven expertise in managing complex healthcare facilities and the ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and project teams, is essential. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively convey complex ideas and influence decision-making processes.

Additional Skills:

The Engineering Program Lead must demonstrate strategic thinking and proactive problem-solving abilities, with a focus on anticipating challenges and influencing positive outcomes. This role requires autonomy in project leadership, the ability to work from various locations, and a commitment to being present on active construction sites throughout the year.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in the commissioning of sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and control systems, particularly in a healthcare environment, is highly desirable.
