Position Overview

As an Avalanche Risk Management Specialist at Alpine Solutions Avalanche Services, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety in mountainous regions prone to avalanches. Your expertise will contribute to the development and implementation of effective avalanche control strategies.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in avalanche observation and control is essential.
Work Environment
  • Location: This position involves working outdoors in various remote locations.
  • Work Conditions: The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and calibrate specialized equipment and instruments.
  • Analyze data to identify trends related to avalanche risks.
  • Conduct field checks and verification to ensure safety protocols are met.
  • Engage in programs aimed at forecasting and controlling avalanches.
  • Perform data entry and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all records.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Experience with remote sensing equipment is an asset.
Personal Attributes
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Work Schedule
  • This is a seasonal position requiring 40 hours of work per week.
