As an Avalanche Risk Management Specialist at Alpine Solutions Avalanche Services, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety in mountainous regions prone to avalanches. Your expertise will contribute to the development and implementation of effective avalanche control strategies.
Qualifications- Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years in avalanche observation and control is essential.
- Location: This position involves working outdoors in various remote locations.
- Work Conditions: The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to work under pressure.
- Maintain and calibrate specialized equipment and instruments.
- Analyze data to identify trends related to avalanche risks.
- Conduct field checks and verification to ensure safety protocols are met.
- Engage in programs aimed at forecasting and controlling avalanches.
- Perform data entry and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all records.
- Proficiency in MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
- Experience with remote sensing equipment is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- This is a seasonal position requiring 40 hours of work per week.
- The primary language of work is English.
