Avalanche Controller Job Description

Alpine Solutions Avalanche Services is seeking a highly skilled Avalanche Controller to join our team. As an Avalanche Controller, you will play a critical role in maintaining equipment and instruments, processing data to conduct basic analyses of trends, and participating in field checks and verification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and operate specialized equipment and systems, including remote sensing equipment.
  • Process and analyze data to forecast and control avalanches in mountainous terrain.
  • Participate in field checks and verification to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • 5 years or more of experience in avalanche observation and control.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in physically demanding environments.
  • Efficient interpersonal skills, organized, and a team player.
  • Ability to work on the road and in remote locations.
Work Environment:

As an Avalanche Controller, you will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, often in remote locations. You will be required to work under pressure and in physically demanding conditions.
