Senior Credit Strategy Manager

Position Overview
The Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a Senior Manager in Credit Strategy & Data Science to spearhead the Cards Acquisition team. This role involves leveraging sophisticated analytics to formulate credit strategies aimed at enhancing revenue while effectively managing risk, thereby maximizing portfolio profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize data analysis, profitability modeling, and business acumen to guide lending decisions for credit card programs, including Line Management and Transaction Authorizations.
- Enhance the profitability of the retail credit card portfolio by assessing, designing, and proposing credit strategies.
- Collaborate with senior management and Group Risk Management partners to refine and implement these strategies.
- Support the integration and ongoing accuracy of credit strategies within relevant systems.
- Develop financial models to project the financial impacts of strategic decisions, evaluate actual outcomes against projections, and drive continuous improvement based on insights.
- Extract learnings to improve credit strategies using various testing methodologies.
- Facilitate the recruitment, development, and establishment of a high-performing analytical credit team.
- Create and implement management systems to nurture a top-tier credit analyst team.
- Experiment with new methodologies and tools to enhance models and strategies, fostering innovation within credit strategy frameworks.
Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in analytics, particularly in advanced risk analytics and strategy formulation for lending products.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a solid understanding of credit risk principles and financial modeling.
- Proficient in SQL, Excel, SAS, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with modern analytical tools and technology stacks, including Python, GitHub, AWS, and HDFS.
- Experience with Data Visualization tools such as Python libraries and Tableau.
- Ability to cultivate effective relationships with stakeholders, credit bureaus, and remote teams.
- Capable of delivering impactful presentations to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Proven track record of producing high-quality, accurate work while managing multiple priorities. A university degree in a quantitative discipline is required.

- Experience in leading a team of high-performing analysts.
- Familiarity with adaptive control software and credit scoring technologies.
- Ability to navigate both business and technical environments effectively.
- Over 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
