Join Our Team as a Construction Department Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated individual to oversee the administrative and financial operations of our Mobile Maintenance Services Department. This role is crucial in ensuring that our projects align with established standards, policies, and procedures, focusing on financial management, service delivery, and contract oversight.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $67,868 - $84,835

Key Responsibilities:

Departmental Management:

  • Interpret and analyze construction drawings and specifications.
  • Estimate labor and material costs for projects.
  • Draft service contracts for various properties.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and training for contract execution.
  • Manage and report on service contracts effectively.
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate material and labor for project estimates.
  • Delegate tasks, resolve issues, and evaluate performance outcomes.
  • Maintain communication regarding project status with stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects meet scope, budget, and quality standards.
  • Monitor expenditures, review invoices, and prepare billing.
  • Supervise work crews and engage in hands-on project management as needed.
  • Ensure availability of necessary materials.
  • Assist in preparing annual budget proposals.
  • Monitor monthly financial variances.
  • Prepare reports as required for various departments.

Leadership and Staff Oversight:

  • Foster a leadership style that promotes enthusiasm, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Ensure staff maintain accurate logs and records.
  • Enforce health and safety regulations and collaborate with the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in committees addressing housing and related issues.
  • Assist in onboarding new team members as needed.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent experience (3 to 5 years).
  • Hands-on experience in construction, particularly in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and interior renovations.
  • Proven experience in managing construction projects and leading teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.

Additional Requirements:

  • Regular working hours are 35 hours per week, with occasional overtime.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver's license is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
  • Must be bondable and pass a police clearance check.
