Job Summary

The City of Hamilton is seeking a dedicated Building Attendant to join our staff. As a Building Attendant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of our premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Property Manager and is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the building.
  • Acts as the master keyholder and is responsible for the security of the building.
  • Monitors fire alarm systems and other life safety systems to ensure the safety of occupants.
  • Provides excellent customer service by showing apartments to prospective tenants and responding to their inquiries.
  • Conducts regular inspections to identify and report any building deficiencies.
  • Maintains the general security of the building and ensures that all security protocols are followed.

Additional Duties

  • Performs light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Carries out minor repairs to ensure the building remains in good condition.
  • Sorts and organizes recyclables and garbage to maintain a clean and environmentally friendly environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in maintenance and customer service is required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make decisions independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with occupants and staff.
  • Understanding of basic emergency procedures and knowledge of relevant legislation.

Working Conditions

The Building Attendant is expected to remain on premises at all times while on duty and provides shared coverage with other Building Attendants.

Accommodation

The City will provide residential accommodation as part of the compensation package.

Additional Compensation

Payment for additional duties will be paid accordingly.

Employment Requirements

A Criminal Records Check is required as a condition of employment.
