Position Overview:

The Maintenance Attendant is tasked with executing a diverse range of repairs and services for buildings, grounds, and equipment managed by Victoria Park Community Homes, ensuring all activities are conducted safely and securely.

Compensation:

Salary range is set between $50,000 and $62,858.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address and fulfill resident maintenance requests as needed.
  • Deliver various notices and correspondence to residents on-site when required.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the property, including mechanical rooms, common areas, and emergency systems, to identify issues and initiate corrective measures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on buildings and equipment as directed, ensuring all documentation is completed.
  • Schedule and oversee ongoing maintenance tasks.
  • Prepare vacant units for new residents.
  • Coordinate with landscaping contractors to ensure proper maintenance of outdoor areas.
  • Check garbage compactor rooms and assist in maintaining cleanliness as necessary.
  • Remove litter and empty waste receptacles in common areas daily.
  • Diagnose and report major system faults to the Building Manager.
  • Safely operate and maintain all tools and equipment used in the role.
  • Manage inventory of materials and supplies, notifying the Property Manager when replenishment is needed.
  • Assist with snow removal and salting as required.
  • Determine maintenance supplies and equipment needs for building operations.
  • Conduct annual testing of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, along with monthly fire panel inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Organize and prioritize work as directed by the Manager.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Dependable with a positive, customer-focused attitude.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in maintaining and repairing building systems.
  • Experience in maintaining high-rise buildings and residential properties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR is preferred; training will be provided.

Additional Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Class G Ontario Driver's license.
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Standard working hours are 35 hours per week, with occasional after-hours work required.
  • Must pass a police clearance check at the candidate's expense.
