Senior Application Operations Specialist

As a key member of our team, reporting to the Leader of AppOps RTR & Overlays, the Senior Application Operations Specialist will serve as a hands-on subject matter expert with extensive knowledge in Site Reliability Engineering and Application Management.

Your responsibilities will include driving insights related to applications and platforms, collaborating closely with technical teams to deliver and maintain state-of-the-art payment solutions for our clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading initiatives to enhance application stability and automate services, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Improving application performance by utilizing performance data and monitoring tools to consistently achieve service excellence.
  • Conducting thorough analyses of application testing and production trends, proactively addressing emerging issues in collaboration with Agile teams, and performing root cause analysis.
  • Designing and implementing scalable solutions to minimize manual processes and streamline application deployment and validation.
  • Enhancing the application development and testing process by integrating and optimizing all facets of Application Operations.
  • Managing application changes, configurations, and code promotions across all environments through automation, ensuring system performance and reliability.
  • Establishing and standardizing enhanced application insights, focusing on observability and predictive analysis for proactive intervention.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical and support documentation for applications and systems.
  • Automating dashboards and reports on application performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Providing technical leadership and ensuring application security, technology currency, and remediation of vulnerabilities while fostering continuous improvement.
  • Responding to escalated issues promptly and providing 24/7 rotating on-call production support to mitigate risks to production systems.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Over 3 years of programming experience in languages such as Java, Python, and frameworks like Spring and AngularJS.
  • Proficiency in version control systems like Git for effective code management and collaboration.
  • Expertise in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.
  • Experience with microservices and containerization technologies, particularly Docker.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools including Azure Monitor, Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana.
  • Solid understanding of AKS architectural concepts, including clusters, namespaces, and autoscaling.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and frameworks (e.g., JIRA, GitHub).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the software lifecycle, including release planning and change management.
  • Familiarity with open-source packages, especially Spring and data transformation formats like JSON and XML.
  • Proficient in data analysis and risk mitigation strategies for production systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, including application deployment and task automation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles.
  • Understanding of database systems such as Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Relevant Microsoft certification, such as Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Experience working within Agile teams.
  • Background in Financial and Payment services.
  • ITIL Certification.
