The Syndicated Financing Associate/Director, as a member of the Wholesale Finance division, plays a crucial role in enhancing the BDC Syndicated Financing portfolio by evaluating and endorsing high-quality transactions in line with BDC's credit policies and risk guidelines. This role involves conducting thorough analyses and due diligence for Syndicated Financing loan applications. The Associate/Director is responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with accounts and influencers to expand the BDC Syndicated Financing portfolio while achieving profitability targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Design and implement initiatives that showcase the capabilities of the Syndicated Financing Group to financial partners, generating new opportunities.
- Conduct comprehensive investigations and due diligence for intricate loan proposals, ensuring all analyses and credit documentation align with accepted credit practices and BDC policies.
- Address compliance issues or significant changes that may arise during the negotiation, structuring, and documentation of deals.
- Oversee the assigned credit portfolio of Syndicated Financing accounts, identifying and escalating any material risk concerns to maintain accurate risk ratings.
- Proactively establish a network of key influencers, including bank representatives and legal advisors, to support BDC's objectives and facilitate deal-sharing opportunities.
- Stay informed about general trends affecting the Syndicated Financing landscape, including market conditions and industry practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics (or equivalent).
- An MBA, CPA, CFA designation, or other relevant professional qualifications is advantageous.
- Over 7 years of pertinent experience for a Director role.
- A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in commercial or corporate banking for an Associate role.
- Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Exceptional underwriting, negotiation, and communication skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to meet deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational and proactive skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages (French and English) are required.
