ROLE SUMMARY

The Syndicated Financing Associate / Associate Director plays a crucial role within the Wholesale Finance team, contributing to the expansion of BDC's Syndicated Financing portfolio. This involves underwriting and recommending high-quality transactions in line with BDC's credit policies and risk parameters. The role includes conducting thorough analysis and due diligence for Syndicated Financing loan proposals, as well as developing and managing key relationships to enhance the portfolio while achieving profitability targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategically plan and execute initiatives that showcase the capabilities of the Syndicated Financing Group to financial partners, generating new opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations and due diligence for complex loan proposals, ensuring compliance with accepted credit practices and BDC policies.
  • Address compliance issues or significant changes that may arise during the negotiation, structuring, and documentation of deals.
  • Manage a designated credit portfolio of Syndicated Financing accounts, promptly identifying and escalating any material risk issues to maintain accurate risk ratings.
  • Proactively cultivate a network of key influencers, including bank representatives and legal professionals, to support BDC's objectives and promote deal-sharing opportunities.
  • Stay informed about trends and issues impacting the Syndicated Financing ecosystem, including market conditions and financial performance of current and prospective clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics (or equivalent).
  • An MBA, CPA, CBV, and/or CFA designation is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for the Associate Director position.
  • At least 3 years of experience in commercial or corporate banking for the Associate role.
  • Familiarity with the upstream oil and gas sector and reserve-based lending is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent underwriting, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong organizational skills and proactivity.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
