What is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Credit Management Associate to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a key member of our Corporate Client Group, you will be responsible for managing credit risk associated with syndicated and bilateral loan facilities and trading derivative lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare credit amendments, annual reviews, and review loan documentation to ensure compliance with loan agreements.
  • Monitor the business and financial performance of borrowers in your portfolio through daily analysis of financial and industry information.
  • Identify and assess deteriorating risk situations through credit analysis and propose a course of action to ensure the safety of the bank's funds.
  • Ensure compliance with loan agreements by verifying performance against financial covenants, margin limits, and bank policy.
  • Build relationships and interact extensively with other functions within the organization, including Corporate Client Group, Risk Management, and Global Loans Administration.

Requirements:

  • Strong credit, analytical, and technical skills, with the ability to critically assess financial statements and draw reasoned conclusions.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and interact at all levels within a large organization.
  • Ability to read and understand complex legal documents, prioritize tasks, and perform well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, professional designation (e.g., CFA, CPA), or a post-graduate degree with a focus in business, economics, finance, or accounting.
  • Previous banking experience with relationship management, structuring, and writing credit proposals, credit processes, policies, and risk analysis.
  • Ability to communicate and read legal documentation in French.
  • Familiarity with the Capital Markets credit process and loan agreements.
  • Knowledge of internal systems such as CCMS, TMS, and Newton.
