About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Design Engineer to join our team at Lightmatter, where you will play a key role in developing advanced ASICs for next-generation artificial intelligence computing architectures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Develop microarchitecture design and RTL for advanced ML/AI accelerator ASICs/SoCs, including advanced memory system and high-performance NoC.
  • Integration and Collaboration: Understand and integrate silicon photonic communication and compute technology into digital accelerator design, working closely with Architecture, Design Verification, Implementation, Photonic, Analog, and Software teams.
  • Design Specifications and Documentation: Create design specifications and documentation to facilitate collaboration with partner teams.
  • Project Management: Manage RTL implementation to achieve functionally correct, performant designs within project schedules by identifying, communicating, and mitigating risks.
Requirements
  • Experience: 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6 years and a Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related fields).
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with high-speed digital design techniques, power-efficient digital design techniques, and experience in ASIC design with multiple successful tape outs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Communication Protocols: Experience in communication protocols (e.g. PCIe).
  • Memory Systems: Experience interfacing with memory systems (e.g. HBM/DDR5).
  • Processor Design: Knowledge of processor design, accelerators, and/or memory hierarchies.
  • Machine Learning: Knowledge of machine learning algorithms.
