Join Our Team
We are in search of a qualified psychological professional to enhance our committed, multi-disciplinary healthcare team at the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre. If you possess a strong dedication to assisting others, this is a remarkable opportunity for you.
In this position, you will:
- Deliver a comprehensive range of psychological services pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment, assessment, and evaluation of offenders.
- Facilitate psychological rehabilitation, conduct therapy sessions, and administer, assess, and interpret psychological evaluations.
- Prepare risk assessment reports for the Ontario Parole Board.
- Organize and execute research and program evaluation initiatives.
- Support staff training programs.
- Provide consultation and guidance to the management team, addressing inquiries as needed.
- You must be registered in good standing as a Psychologist or Psychological Associate in autonomous practice within the Province of Ontario.
Note: Candidates in supervised practice may be considered if on-site supervision is available from a Chief Psychologist.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychological science and practices, including psychotherapeutic and assessment techniques to effectively plan, conduct, and coordinate services.
- Ability to apply advanced treatment methodologies and provide consultation on the diagnosis and treatment of offenders.
- Familiarity with forensic psychological theories, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to clearly communicate information regarding assessment methods, findings, and treatment activities.
- Proficient in using motivational interviewing techniques to promote the utilization of psychological services aimed at fostering change.
- Capability to maintain strong collaborative relationships with staff in multi-disciplinary teams and community organizations.
- Ability to determine the most suitable diagnostic approach from various options.
- Skill in evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of treatment and rehabilitation programs.
- Sound judgment when handling highly confidential information and cases.
- Ability to organize and coordinate psychological services effectively.
- Knowledge and experience in program evaluation methodologies.
