Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Nordic Centre, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide guidance and support to our Nordic Centre staff, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to deliver exceptional customer service and perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the Nordic Centre, including rentals, guest services, retail, café, and outdoor trail maintenance.
  • Staff Development: Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure they meet the high standards of our resort.
  • Communication and Liaison: Serve as a point of contact for staff and guests, resolving issues and providing information as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with monetary tasks, such as cash handling and reporting, and maintain accurate records.
  • Trail Maintenance: Ensure the Nordic Centre trails are well-maintained, reporting any hazards or issues to management.
  • Guest Services: Provide exceptional customer service, responding to guest inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other leads and staff to achieve business objectives and ensure a smooth operation.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Tourism, Hospitality, and/or Adventure Tourism is an asset.
  • Leadership Experience: Previous experience providing leadership and coaching to employees is required.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to understand business implications and strive to improve organizational performance.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, standing for long periods, and working in all weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Comox Valley: Familiarity with the local area and its attractions is an asset.
  • Passion for the Outdoors: A passion for people and the outdoors is essential for this role.
