PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

Manage the daily functions of the Nordic operations, ensuring seamless execution of activities related to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking. This role encompasses both indoor and outdoor operations, including equipment rentals, guest services, retail management, café operations, and maintenance of outdoor trails.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Onboard and train new team members, equipping them with the necessary skills to deliver outstanding customer service while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Supervise daily activities of both indoor and outdoor personnel.
  • Act as a primary contact for staff, addressing inquiries and resolving guest-related issues.
  • Perform general cleaning duties as required.
  • Ensure optimal staffing levels to meet budgetary goals and adapt to fluctuating business demands.
  • Collaborate with other team leaders, assigning daily responsibilities and confirming their completion.
  • Assist with financial tasks, ensuring accurate cash handling and reporting any discrepancies to management.
  • Monitor communication channels, responding to guest inquiries and scheduling lessons as needed.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members on a regular basis.
  • Ensure coverage for staff breaks and maintain smooth operations during peak guest attendance.
  • Utilize the POS system effectively, addressing any technical issues that arise.
  • Lead morning briefings in the absence of the manager.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of the facility.
  • Clear snow from walkways and decks to ensure safe access.
  • Guide snowshoe tours as required.
  • Support retail and rental operations as necessary.
  • Assist with end-of-day trail inspections.
  • Help procure signage, tools, and replacement parts for the Nordic Centre.
  • Establish and maintain trail signage for cross-country, snowshoe, and fat bike routes.
  • Oversee the maintenance of snowshoe and fat bike trails, reporting any hazards to management.
  • Perform additional tasks in retail, rentals, and café areas as needed.
  • Be prepared to adapt to different locations based on guest volume and weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Tourism, Hospitality, or Adventure Tourism is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on balancing guest satisfaction and organizational profitability.
  • Flexible scheduling and availability for full-time winter hours.
  • Prior experience in leadership and employee development.
  • Strong knowledge of the local area and a passion for outdoor activities.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Professional demeanor and approachability.
  • This role requires physical activity, including standing, sitting, and lifting.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
