Job Overview

Under the guidance of senior management, the Personal Lines Underwriter II is tasked with evaluating the acceptability of moderately complex insurance applications with a moderate premium volume in accordance with company standards. This role is pivotal in delivering expert insights and exceptional service to both prospective and current policyholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments utilizing technology and external data sources to facilitate quoting, negotiating, and approving risk acceptance.
  • Assess eligibility for policy renewals based on established guidelines and the company's retention objectives.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation of decisions and maintain the integrity of policy information.
  • Communicate decisions effectively and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Aid in the interpretation of rating methodologies, policy wordings, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage work assignments, including phone inquiries, with efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively to achieve team objectives.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including participation in industry networking events.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance sector.
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent business experience.
  • Commitment to obtaining or actively pursuing a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated decision-making capabilities with the ability to provide sound justification.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize daily tasks effectively.
