Position Overview

The Farm Pricing division is integral to achieving the financial objectives of farm insurance at Wawanesa Insurance across the nation. With a solid understanding of pricing methodologies, the Senior Actuarial Analyst or Actuarial Consultant is tasked with formulating farm insurance rating strategies, improving segmentation, revealing business insights, and collaborating with our partners to fulfill strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pricing evaluations and segmentation studies on personal and commercial agricultural operations to assess rate sufficiency and risk quality. Develop and implement underwriting and regional business strategies.
  • Innovate in crafting rate review methodologies to enhance pricing sophistication.
  • Gather and utilize both internal and external data to refine pricing segmentation.
  • Oversee portfolio performance and the effectiveness of underwriting strategies; proactively communicate findings and propose solutions.
  • Clearly present pricing analyses and recommendations to varied audiences, including leadership, underwriters, and brokers.
  • Mentor junior analysts in technical competencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Completion of 4 or more CAS examinations; ACAS designation is a plus.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in property and casualty actuarial work is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proactive in identifying challenges and initiating solutions.
  • Proficient in Excel, SQL, R, Python, and/or other relevant software/programming languages/actuarial tools.
  • Familiarity with WTW Radar and Emblem is advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in analysis with minimal technical errors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and adaptability to change.
