POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning, scheduling, and execution of construction activities. This position ensures that all projects are carried out in alignment with safety protocols, contractual obligations, budgetary constraints, and client timelines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Management

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
  • Facilitate the preparation and submission of project notifications.
  • Engage in Pre-Job Hazard Assessments and collaborate with the Safety Department.
  • Contribute to the formulation of safety procedures tailored to specific tasks.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and audits.
  • Review and validate safety documentation and reports.
  • Identify and communicate potential risks to site teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for all personnel prior to project commencement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety at work sites.
  • Investigate incidents and ensure thorough reporting.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of equipment.

Project Oversight

  • Examine contract documents and project specifications before site initiation.
  • Collaborate with estimators and project managers on budget reviews.
  • Participate in bid transition meetings and pre-construction discussions.
  • Provide necessary documentation and resources to site foremen.
  • Optimize resource allocation in conjunction with the Construction Manager.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for project needs.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and notifications are secured.
  • Direct construction methodologies and project planning.
  • Implement and monitor various management plans including Safety, Traffic, Quality, and Environmental.
  • Maintain open communication with clients and document all interactions.
  • Engage in regular project meetings to assess progress and address issues.
  • Review and adjust project costs and billing as necessary.

Planning and Coordination

  • Communicate project timelines and expectations to site teams.
  • Provide daily guidance and instructions to site foremen.
  • Organize necessary resources for project execution.
  • Develop and maintain a project schedule, including a three-week look-ahead.
  • Monitor progress to ensure adherence to deadlines.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with quality control standards.
  • Schedule quality testing as required by project specifications.
  • Address and rectify deficiencies promptly.
  • Document all quality issues through established processes.

Training and Development

  • Lead and mentor site personnel, fostering skill development.
  • Ensure all workers receive necessary training for their tasks.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.

Equipment Oversight

  • Coordinate equipment needs with the Construction Manager.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Review and validate daily reports and work orders.
  • Ensure timely integration of foreman documentation into project systems.
  • Maintain detailed records of site activities and communications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of construction practices and specifications.
  • Understanding of contract documentation.
  • Highly motivated with a keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
  • Proficient in interpreting site plans and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in relevant software.

Desirable

  • Completion of relevant construction management courses.
  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Registered with relevant professional bodies.
