Position Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Sales Representative for the Kelowna branch. The primary role involves advocating for the mechanical manufacturers represented by the company and delivering precise and prompt support to all participants in the HVAC field.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $100,000.
Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineering Sales Representative will be responsible for:
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with key industry stakeholders such as Engineers, Architects, Contractors, Developers, and Owners to enhance sales and increase market presence in line with company objectives.
- Promoting a variety of mechanical equipment, including but not limited to Air Handling Units, Make Up Air Units, Roof Top Package Units, Dedicated Outdoor Air Units, Heat Pumps, Chillers, and VRF systems. This includes:
- Identifying and maximizing sales opportunities.
- Assisting engineers and design/build contractors with product selections.
- Interpreting schedules, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Conducting take-offs, preparing quotations and tenders, and issuing submittals.
- Negotiating sales agreements.
- Managing the entire sales process from initial inquiry to the end of the warranty period.
- Engaging in self-education and attending manufacturer training sessions to stay updated on the latest product innovations and software tools, with some travel required.
- Keeping abreast of industry and local codes, regulations, and market trends to ensure compliance and capitalize on opportunities.
- Providing timely and accurate service to the engineering community.
- Maintaining awareness of competitors' product offerings.
- Conducting a minimum of 8 visits per week to various engineering firms and maintaining a visible presence in the engineering community, including conducting presentations when requested.
- Cross-training on other mechanical and air-side products to identify additional sales opportunities.
- Training and supporting colleagues on all aspects of the represented mechanical products.
- Planning and executing new product launches in the market.
- Visiting job sites to address on-site challenges as they arise.
- Strategically planning and accompanying customers on factory visits, with a minimum expectation of 3 to 4 visits per year.
- Participating in ASHRAE membership and attending monthly meetings.
- Organizing and attending trade shows as needed.
- Participating in all divisional and office meetings.
- Assisting in customer events, which may include open houses and lunches.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
- Collaborating effectively as part of a team with a focus on customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in selling HVAC-related mechanical equipment, with 5 or more years preferred.
- A Professional Engineering Degree or a Diploma in Engineering Technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
- The ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- A positive attitude, excellent attendance, ethical business practices, and reliability as a team member.
