TRAINING OPPORTUNITY
Qualification/Eligibility Criteria:• Must be accepted and enrolled in the NorQuest College Ortho LPN Program
• Active registration in good standing with BC College for licensed practical nurses (LPNs)
• Active employment as an LPN in an acute care site for a minimum of 3600 hours
• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (temporary work visas are not eligible). Practicum/Work Experience Requirements: Before you attend your clinical practice, you will need:
• To successfully complete both online prerequisite courses. This is to be done outside of clinical work hours
• Clinical Lab – 1 week in-person clinical lab at NorQuest College
• 8-week (300 hour) clinical practicum. If the candidate does not successfully complete all requirements, they will be required to reimburse VCH for tuition and book fees.

As an LPN at Vancouver Coastal Health, your responsibilities will include:
Functioning independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team, performing the full scope of practical nursing duties as outlined by BCCNM and permitted by the employer for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated specialty area. Being accountable for activities that include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting client care, while providing support to clients and their families. Collaborating as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, assisting the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires advanced knowledge and skills beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses. Maintaining and advancing clinical competence in accordance with the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses.Qualifications
Education & Experience
Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses, plus successful completion of recognized, formal post-basic education in advanced orthopedics for LPNs. Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work in accordance with the standards of practice under the BCCNM. Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interact effectively with others. Physical capability to perform the duties of the position. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Competence in operating related equipment.Closing Statement
