Registered Nurse Psychotherapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient-focused nursing care to patients in our Mental Health Unit.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Comply with policies and procedures related to patient observations and safety.
- Provide professional, patient-centered care to ensure patient safety and well-being, including creating a therapeutic relationship and environment.
- Work in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environment.
- Practice infection control and prevention measures.
- Respond to emergency situations by recognizing changes in patient health status and consulting appropriately.
- Provide health teaching to patients and families, including thorough discharge instructions to ensure continuity of care.
- Experience working in mental health, with a minimum of five years of experience required.
- Canadian Nurses Association certification in psychiatric mental health is preferred.
- Certification in psychotherapy modalities is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness, metabolic, and concurrent disorders is required.
- Experience conducting/facilitating psycho-educational groups is required.
- Ability to deliver counseling and psychotherapy within legislative requirements and medical directives is required.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing profession.
- BCLS is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills are required.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team.
- Knowledge of patient and family-centered care.
- Experience with patient and family health teaching is required.
- Leadership and facilitation skills are required.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, and critical-thinking skills are required.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development is required.
- Ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Exemplary clinical practice within an inter-professional team to develop appropriate strategies for patient care.
- Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions.
- Excellent physical assessment skills are required.
- Ability to promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Demonstrated Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration.
- Ability to travel and work between all Osler sites.
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work record.
- Knowledge and understanding of information systems and technology.
