Gastronomy Gastown is a contemporary Italian-style restaurant with a focus on handmade wood-fire Neapolitan pizzas and a curated selection of fine wines, beers, and craft cocktails. Our intimate 46-seat restaurant offers a stylish and elevated dining experience in a laid-back atmosphere.

Job Overview

The General Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Ownership and Chef in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, team management, and overall restaurant performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage a diverse team to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain a positive dining experience.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth, improve operational efficiency, and maintain high standards of quality.
  3. Manage inventory, scheduling, and financial reporting to ensure a successful operation.
  4. Ensure compliance with Vancouver Coastal Health and BC Liquor Board regulations.
  5. Develop and manage budgets, control costs, and analyze financial reports to maintain a successful operation.
  6. Collaborate with the Ownership and Chef to achieve business objectives and drive growth.

Requirements

  1. Minimum 1 year in a manager/supervisor position in high-volume restaurants.
  2. Minimum 3 years of service experience in restaurants.
  3. Strong knowledge in bartending and serving.
  4. Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, and cuisine.
  5. Experience in upscale dining procedures.
  6. Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, including FOH and BOH processes.
  7. Serving It Right (Food Safe a plus).
  8. Legal Employment Status in Canada of minimum 2 years from potential start of employment.
