Position Summary:

The Nurse Specialist will collaborate as a vital member of the inter-professional team, delivering care to youth up to the age of 19 who are experiencing challenges related to substance use and/or gambling, as well as concurrent mental health disorders. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting initial and ongoing nursing assessments.
  • Participating in the interdisciplinary treatment planning process.
  • Implementing and integrating treatment plans within the 24/7 unit.
  • Providing holistic, evidence-based care to individuals, families, and communities.
  • Leading nursing assessments and coordinating patient/family care.
  • Building professional relationships with colleagues to enhance team collaboration.
Work Schedule:

Shifts may vary between 7.5 and 11.25 hours, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays across various times of the day.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN).
  • Completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) program within the last year.
  • Experience in adolescent substance abuse and psychiatric nursing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of mental health and concurrent disorders.
  • Ability to facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups.
  • Demonstrated skills in teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.
  • Commitment to professional development and practice.
