Position Overview: The Registered Nurse in the Maternity Care Unit is tasked with delivering exceptional nursing care to mothers, newborns, and their families. This role is integral to ensuring a supportive and safe environment during the birthing process, adhering to the core values and mission of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the maternity unit, focusing on family-centered practices.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Utilize current research and evidence-based practices to enhance patient outcomes.
- Monitor and assess the health status of patients, providing timely interventions as necessary.
- Educate families on health management and newborn care, fostering a supportive environment.
Shifts will vary based on operational needs, typically ranging from 7.5 to 11.25 hours, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications:- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
- Must be registered or eligible for registration with the relevant nursing authority.
- Completion of a perioperative nursing course is necessary, or a commitment to complete within a specified timeframe.
- Recent experience in intrapartum nursing is essential.
- Experience in maternity care is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in an operating room or post-anesthesia care unit is an asset.
- Current certifications in BCLS, NRP, and ACLS are mandatory.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills are essential.
- Ability to adapt to change and foster a positive team environment is crucial.
- Knowledge of family-centered care principles is required.
