Position Overview

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Scheduler for the Home Support team.

This position is integral to the coordination of care services, ensuring that clients receive the support they need in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute a variety of scheduling and administrative tasks.
  • Strategically plan and modify Community Care Assistant (CCA) schedules, assigning tasks based on client needs and care plans.
  • Address inquiries regarding the scheduling of Home Support Services.
  • Utilize online systems and complete necessary documentation for processing employee transactions such as employment requisitions, transfers, vacation requests, leaves of absence, and terminations.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping records for staff, providing support in a dynamic call center environment.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in coordinating and adjusting home support schedules, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background in Customer Service and/or experience in a fast-paced call center is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient typing skills with a minimum of 6500 keystrokes per hour.
  • Familiarity with relevant collective agreements.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to schedule Community Care Assistance for client visits effectively.
  • Initiative to foresee potential issues and take appropriate actions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties required by the position.
  • Organizational skills to manage workload efficiently.
  • Competence in operating relevant equipment.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and tactfully, even in challenging situations.

Additional Information:

The work schedule, including days off and work areas, may be adjusted based on operational needs and applicable agreements. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
