Position Overview
We are currently seeking a full-time Psychologist to become an integral part of our Mental Health & Addiction Program, specifically within the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services.

Work Schedule: Primarily during the day, with some evening hours required.

Role of the Psychologist
As a Psychologist at Grand River Hospital, you will collaborate with the communities we serve to foster long-term health and wellness. Our Mental Health & Addictions Program is committed to delivering outstanding patient experiences, ensuring excellent access to care, and engaging our staff effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and diagnose psychological disorders, including mental health issues, cognitive abilities, and personality conditions.
  • Analyze complex data from various sources.
  • Administer and interpret psychological assessments tailored to specific referral questions.
  • Draft comprehensive clinical assessment summaries and reports detailing psychometric results and diagnostic insights.
  • Engage in educational initiatives for patients and families to enhance coping strategies and alleviate distress.
  • Participate in the selection and evaluation of candidates for student practicums, demonstrating skills in clinical teaching.
  • Deliver diverse therapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group therapy, aimed at improving emotional, social, and interpersonal functioning.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training for students and non-regulated psychology staff, ensuring accountability in psychological service delivery.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team alongside other health care professionals and community service providers.
  • Contribute to clinical research initiatives, offering insights on research design, statistical analysis, and methodology.
  • Help maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications:
  • A graduate degree in Psychology (Master's or Doctoral level) with relevant experience in the field, and registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
  • At least two years of clinical experience in psychological assessment and diagnosis for children and youth in a hospital setting.
  • Proficiency in administering and interpreting a variety of psychological tests.
  • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills for training and guiding students and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of clinical research design and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with autism-specific assessments and neuropsychological testing is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
