We are currently seeking a full-time Psychologist to contribute to our Mental Health & Addiction Program, specifically within Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services.

Work Schedule: Primarily during the day, with some evening hours.

Role of Psychologists at Grand River Hospital

Our Mental Health & Addictions Program is committed to providing outstanding patient experiences, excellent access to services, and engaged staff.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assess and diagnose psychological disorders, including mental health issues, cognitive functioning, and personality disorders.
  • Analyze complex data from various sources.
  • Administer and interpret psychological assessments relevant to the referral question.
  • Draft comprehensive clinical assessment summaries and reports based on psychometric findings and diagnostic conclusions.
  • Engage in patient and family education initiatives aimed at enhancing coping strategies and reducing distress.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of candidates for student practicums; demonstrate skills in clinical teaching and education.
  • Provide diverse therapeutic interventions (individual, family, and group) aimed at enhancing physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and interpersonal functioning.
  • Offer clinical supervision and training for student practica and/or non-regulated psychology staff, ensuring clinical accountability in the delivery of psychological services.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside other health care providers, community services, and educational institutions.
  • Contribute to clinical research design and provide guidance on research/evaluation design, statistical analysis, and methodology.
  • Support the creation of a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications for Psychologists at Grand River Hospital:
  • Completion of graduate education, minimum of a Master's degree in Psychology (M.A., M.Sc., M.Ps., M.Ed.), with four years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D., D.Psy.) with a one-year internship.
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience in psychological assessment and diagnosis of children and youth (up to age 21) within an acute care hospital setting.
  • Proficiency in administering, scoring, and interpreting a wide range of psychological tests.
  • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills for providing clinical supervision and training.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and expertise in clinical research design and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with autism-specific assessments such as ADOS-2 and ADIR is preferred; neuropsychological testing experience is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Consistent attendance record.
