Position Overview

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in the Oncology-Palliative Unit plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient and family-centered care in a supportive and culturally aware environment. This position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, focusing on assessment, education, prevention, maintenance, and restoration of patient health.

Key Responsibilities
As an RPN, you will be responsible for:
Providing high-quality nursing care in accordance with the full scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Effectively communicating with patients, families, and other healthcare team members, both verbally and in writing. Utilizing critical thinking skills to prioritize and organize tasks based on patient needs. Demonstrating proficiency in patient transfers and lifts. Committing to ongoing professional development and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Utilizing computer skills for data entry, patient information systems, and conducting internet searches. Engaging in self-directed learning regarding patient assessment and education.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess:
A diploma in Registered Practical Nursing from an accredited Community College. Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A current Medication Certificate. A minimum of one year of recent experience in Medicine/General Surgery is preferred. Experience in oncology or palliative care is an asset. Bilingualism in French and English is considered an advantage.
