Role Summary
As a Registered Practical Nurse in the Oncology-Palliative Unit, your primary responsibility will be to provide outstanding care that is driven by the needs of patients and their families. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, focusing on assessment, education, prevention, and the maintenance and restoration of health. Ensuring adherence to health and safety policies is crucial to maintaining a secure environment for patients, staff, and families. Your ability to build strong relationships across the organization will be essential, as will your excellent interpersonal skills in connecting with patients, families, and colleagues. This role also supports the hospital's educational mission by contributing to teaching, learning, and research initiatives.

Responsibilities include:
Functioning within the full scope of nursing practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Communicating effectively (both written and verbal) with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Utilizing critical thinking to prioritize and organize tasks based on patient needs.
Demonstrating proficiency in safe patient handling techniques.
Committing to continuous learning and quality improvement initiatives.
Proficiently using computer systems, including MS Word and patient information databases.
Showing motivation for ongoing education in patient assessment and education.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Registered Practical Nursing from an accredited community college.
Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Valid Medication Administration Certificate.
Preferred: One year of recent experience in Medicine/General Surgery.
Preferred: Experience in oncology or palliative care.
Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
