Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Complex Malignant Hematology Team. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will provide expert care to patients with complex malignant hematology conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care to patients with complex malignant hematology conditions, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs and develop strategies to address them.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in research and education activities to stay current with best practices and advance the field of complex malignant hematology.
Requirements
  • Current College of Nurses of Ontario Registration in the Extended Class (EC) as a NP required.
  • Completion of a Master's degree required.
  • Demonstrated expertise as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
  • Up to five (5) years of relevant experience; including three (3) years of experience working in the malignant hematology preferred.
  • Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred or commitment to obtain certification when eligible.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support required.
  • Commitment to collaborative practice.
  • Experience in nursing research methodology an asset.
  • Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution.
  • Evidence of professional malpractice insurance.
  • Membership in the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) and other organizations relevant to the role preferred.
  • Knowledge of data management programs an asset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer services skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Program planning and evaluation methodology skills an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner.
