Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Low Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to join our team at Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with vision loss to regain their independence and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive functional low vision assessments to identify individuals' visual needs and develop personalized rehabilitation plans.
  • Teach individuals with vision loss how to maximize their residual vision and adapt to their visual impairment.
  • Recommend and train individuals in the use of optical and non-optical aids, such as magnifying glasses, canes, and assistive technology.
  • Provide education and support to individuals and their families on eye health, vision loss, and low vision rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community agencies, and stakeholders to ensure seamless care and support for individuals with vision loss.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as health care or vision science.
  • ACVREP certification or equivalent experience in low vision rehabilitation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong knowledge of low vision rehabilitation principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
