Liquidity Research and Analytics Manager

The Liquidity Research & Analytics Manager is a pivotal role within the organization, reporting directly to the Director of Liquidity Research & Analytics. This position is integral to the formulation of quantitative methodologies that underpin behavioral assumptions utilized in Internal Liquidity Stress Testing, a vital instrument for senior management in overseeing the bank's liquidity risk.
Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in managing extensive datasets using programming languages such as SQL, SAS, R, and Python. They will employ critical thinking and analytical skills to gain a comprehensive understanding of BMO's offerings and clientele, thereby enhancing liquidity risk management practices.
This role also entails the creation of visual representations of analyses using tools like Power-BI, facilitating the effective communication of insights.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and implement analytical solutions that align with business strategies and stakeholder requirements.
- Provide strategic advice and support to business units regarding the application of analytical solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ascertain business needs, define problems, and outline expected outcomes, while modeling scenarios that influence essential business processes.
- Engage with data owners to identify and select relevant data from both internal and external sources to meet analytical demands.
- Utilize programming skills to compile various data types into well-structured datasets with multiple levels of detail.
- Develop analytical solutions by applying appropriate statistical and machine learning techniques to validate hypotheses.
- Summarize statistical findings and present actionable business recommendations clearly and concisely.
- Document data flows and processes to enhance efficiency and support use case development.
- Employ experimental design methodologies to verify findings or test hypotheses.
- Utilize algorithms to uncover patterns within data.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Assist in the development of tools and provide training for data analytics and AI initiatives.
- Contribute to the execution of strategic initiatives in partnership with stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in the design and management of core business processes.
- Exercise judgment to identify and resolve issues within established guidelines.
- Work independently on a variety of complex tasks, including unique situations.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
- Typically requires 5 to 7 years of relevant experience and a degree in a quantitative field such as Financial Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or Economics.
- Familiarity with visualization techniques and concepts.
- Understanding of distributed computing and databases.
- Experience with distributed computing languages and cloud technologies.
- Proficiency in programming languages and machine learning algorithms.
- Experience in statistical analysis, data mining, and data transformation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in data-driven decision-making.
