Procurement Specialist

At Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), we are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to play a key role in managing our procurement portfolio, ensuring inventory targets are met, and driving supply chain excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage procurement portfolio, monitor inventory increases, and optimize inventory levels to achieve yearly targets.
  • Monitor daily Material Requirements Planning queue to issue Purchase Orders and fulfill stock based on min/max levels.
  • Develop and maintain accurate material master data, ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Support customer material requests, coordinate rush requirements, and ensure timely delivery of railcar and locomotive materials.
  • Expedite open Purchase Orders and internal stock transfer orders, ensuring all open orders are resolved after material receipt.
  • Provide end-user customer support and training on Sourcing to Pay processes, ensuring seamless integration with stakeholders.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with suppliers and vendors, monitoring costs, quality, quantity, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Manage and resolve issues related to PO to invoice discrepancies, returns, and quality problems with suppliers.
  • Export SAP reports, analyze KPI metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute project initiatives, driving business growth and excellence.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, or Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in procurement and/or inventory management.
  • Knowledge of the railway industry is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Experience with SAP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
