Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team at Family and Children's Services Niagara. As a key member of our Technical Services Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of our IT systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provisioning and Maintenance: Effectively provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain IT security hardware and software, as well as related infrastructure.
  • Cybersecurity Governance: Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity governance program, security plan, policies, and risk management framework.
  • Threat Detection and Response: Monitor networks and systems to detect security threats, and provide specialist technology solutions and expertise in the cybersecurity field.
  • System Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor systems, software, and servers to stay ahead of emerging threats, and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Policy Development and Maintenance: Assist in developing and maintaining policies, procedures, technical standards, and methods related to security administration.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide maintenance, support, and troubleshooting for Microsoft 365, servers, Azure Cloud, VMWare, switches, firewalls, computers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Network Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor the network to ensure availability to all system users, and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Server Management: Manage all Windows Servers (Windows 2012/16/19/22) to ensure their availability, integrity, and security, including installation and/or system recovery.
  • OS Patches and Upgrades: Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor all PCs, Servers, and Mobile Devices to ensure security and compliance with agency policies and standards.
  • IT System Standards: Contribute to and maintain IT system standards.
  • Daily System Monitoring: Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, system, and reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Information Security Tools and Documentation: Daily scanning, implementing, and maintaining information security tools and documentation.
  • Hardware and Software Repair and Recovery: Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
  • Software Compliance: Maintain software compliance for FACS Niagara.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Participate in the development and successful implementation of the Strategic Plan, and provide leadership for the operational success of the Technical Services Department.
  • Customer Service and Confidentiality: Provide excellent quality customer service with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders in the implementation of department plans and programs.
  • IT Software Requirements: Identify IT software requirements in relation to enhancing the security and confidentiality of agency equipment and data.
  • Staff Expenditures: Ensure own staff expenditures adhere to FACS policies.
  • Continuous Quality Improvement: Strive to meet or exceed all accountabilities and achieve continuous quality improvement and excellence in all activities and outcomes, in relation to cybersecurity.
  • Training and Orientation: Assist in training and orientation of peers.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related studies.
  • Experience: Additional 3 years of IT Security and networking-related experience required.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Experience with Microsoft security solutions (Defender, Sentinel, Security Centre, etc.), computer network penetration testing and techniques, ability to identify and mitigate network, web application, and software development vulnerabilities, working knowledge of IT Compliance, Standards, and Frameworks, experience with incident response, forensic analysis, and log file analysis, knowledge of Windows server OS, Linux/UNIX Operating Systems, and command-line tools, experience with M365 (including but not limited to Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Security & Compliance, etc.), experience with VMware Suite (V Centre, VSAN, and VM Network), experience with networking (Setting up VLANs, ACL, Routes, etc.), and valid G Drivers License and access to a reliable motor vehicle with appropriate liability insurance.
