About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Security Specialist to join our team at Family and Children's Services Niagara. As a key member of our Technical Services Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of our IT systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity governance program, including security policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks.
  • Monitor and analyze network and system logs to detect security threats and identify vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans, penetration tests, and threat risk assessments to ensure the security of our systems and data.
  • Provide maintenance, support, and troubleshooting for Microsoft 365, servers, Azure Cloud, VMWare, switches, firewalls, computers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Manage Windows Servers, ensuring their availability, integrity, and security, including installation and system recovery.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, upgrade administrative tools and utilities, and configure/add new services.
  • Monitor all PCs, Servers, and Mobile Devices to ensure security and compliance with agency policies and standards.
  • Contribute to and maintain IT system standards, perform daily system monitoring, and verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, and system logs.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures, maintain software compliance, and apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
  • Upgrade and configure system security software, maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment, and monitor regular security access and vulnerability diagnostics.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related studies.
  • Additional 3 years of IT Security and networking-related experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft security solutions, computer network penetration testing, and techniques.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate network, web application, and software development vulnerabilities.
  • Working knowledge of IT Compliance, Standards, and Frameworks.
  • Experience with incident response, forensic analysis, and log file analysis.
  • Knowledge of Windows server OS, Linux/UNIX Operating Systems, and command-line tools.
  • Experience with M365, VMware Suite, and networking.
