Practical Nursing Specialist

Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Patient Care Manager, the Practical Nursing Specialist is tasked with delivering expert nursing services to assigned patients, including those with intricate and unpredictable health conditions. Responsibilities encompass independent nursing practices, administering prescribed medical interventions, collaborating within the healthcare team, and aiding in the coordination of patient care and discharge processes.
Experience Requirements- Relevant recent experience is beneficial.
- A satisfactory employment history is essential.
Training Program:
The Emergency Nursing Orientation is a comprehensive full-time program. Participants are expected to engage full-time during the initial training phases.
Educational Qualifications- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing Education program is mandatory.
Specialized Training:
- Successful completion of Emergency Nursing Orientation training Level 1 within two months of hire, with subsequent levels completed within the first year.
- Certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration is required.
- Must maintain active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification at the Healthcare Provider level is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are advantageous.
- Completion of Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) is beneficial.
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Scope of practice as outlined in the Licensed Practical Nurses Act.
- Policies and procedures relevant to the healthcare facility.
- Nursing care principles pertinent to the clinical area.
- Relevant legislation and acts governing healthcare practices.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Preference for candidates with proficiency in Indigenous languages and familiarity with Indigenous customs and values.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize care effectively for individuals or groups.
- Competence in delegating care and monitoring outcomes.
- Adaptability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
- Capability to maintain focus amidst frequent interruptions.
- Proficiency in computer applications and software relevant to healthcare.
- The role requires moderate to heavy physical exertion.
