Position Summary

Under the general oversight of the Patient Care Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is tasked with delivering professional nursing services to assigned patients. This includes independent nursing duties, administering prescribed medical treatments, collaborating with the healthcare team, and engaging in the coordination of patient care and discharge processes. The LPN is expected to uphold the vision, values, goals, and objectives of Riverview Health Centre.

Experience Requirements

  • Recent experience in the relevant clinical area may be necessary or preferred.

Educational Background

  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Education program is required.

Licensure and Certification

  • Certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration is required.
  • Must maintain and provide proof of active registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training must comply with organizational policy.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Understanding of the standards of practice and ethical guidelines for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Knowledge of regional policies, procedures, and protocols relevant to nursing care.
  • Familiarity with various legislated acts affecting healthcare practices.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with proficiency in Indigenous languages and knowledge of Indigenous customs and values.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to prioritize patient care and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic situations and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in the use of computer software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Physical Demands

  • Must maintain good physical and mental health.
  • Moderate to heavy physical exertion may be required.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts and weekends as necessary.
