Position: Occupational Therapist, Care Coordinator

Location: In-person

Employment Type: Temporary Full-time (35 hours/week)

Compensation: $39.22 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development, execution, assessment, and evaluation of the Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP).
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to fulfill client needs through the provision of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of loans, returns, inventory, and equipment repairs in line with program policies.
  • Coordinate with Health Equipment Technicians to ensure timely adjustments to equipment.
  • Supervise Community Health Assistants and Specialized Technicians.
  • Conduct audits and maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • Engage with Long Term Care facilities to ensure proper equipment delivery and suitability for clients.
  • Network with facilities, occupational therapists, and equipment suppliers to enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices as outlined in the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Occupational Therapy with membership eligibility in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and current registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Occupational Therapists.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience.
  • Proven knowledge of current trends in community health and experience in health equipment or geriatrics.
  • Familiarity with specialized health equipment and mattress systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in computer systems; experience with inventory control systems is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Previous WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety training is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
  • Satisfactory driver's abstract required.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada is essential.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment screening process, including an Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC).

Salary Range: $57,113 - $71,391
