About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Project Superintendent to join our team at Whelan Construction. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate the activities of subcontractors and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Operational Planning: Plan and organize daily operations to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Budgeting and Estimating: Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates and manage budgets to ensure financial stability.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers to ensure that projects are completed to the highest standard.
  • Scheduling and Monitoring: Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones, and monitor progress to ensure that projects are completed on time.
  • Contract Management: Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Quality Control: Establish and implement policies and procedures for quality control to ensure that projects meet the highest standards.
  • Technical Skills: Read blueprints, schemas, and drawings to ensure that projects are completed accurately.
  • Financial Management: Plan and manage budgets to ensure financial stability.
  • Procurement: Direct the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions.
  • Data Analysis: Oversee the analysis of data and information to inform project decisions.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports to stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflict situations to ensure that projects are completed smoothly.
  • Training and Development: Train staff/workers in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies.Technical Requirements
    • Computer Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and MS Project.
    • Construction Specialization: Industrial, commercial, and institutional construction experience.
    • Transportation and Travel: Valid driver's license.
    • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with tight deadlines, and with attention to detail.
    • Personal Suitability: Excellent interpersonal skills, oral communication, written communication, flexibility, judgment, organization, teamwork, values, and ethics.
