About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Manager to join our team at PCL Construction. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction process and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with site superintendents and project managers to implement PCL's safety program and maintain safety and record-keeping requirements.
- Supervise and direct project teams, including direct and indirect reports, to ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
- Effectively communicate with trades and ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
- Collaborate with superintendents, construction/project managers, and project teams to advise on potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.
- Liaise between field engineers and estimators to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and assist with resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules.
- Monitor and execute the project construction plan and schedule.
- Review and understand the contract and subcontracts, including understanding risk and risk mitigation plans.
- Maintain project administration correspondence and comply with documentation requirements.
Requirements
- Journeyman certificate or Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- Working towards NCSO designation (IND), and enrolled in the Gold Seal program as an intern (CDN) preferred.
- 3 years of experience in a field engineer / field coordinator position or lead hand / foreman role preferred.
- Successfully supervised a construction workforce.
- Knowledge of construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.
- Understanding of project scope and ability to apply basic engineering principles to resolve constructability challenges.
- Understanding of project schedules and ability to identify the critical path.
- Knowledge and understanding of scheduling software.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental principles/procedures/legislation.
- Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with client, consultants, trades, own forces work, and internal employees.
- Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving abilities, and professional judgment.
