Position Overview:

The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring the safe and effective distribution of medications. This position involves:

  • Medication Management: Responsible for the dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals, including individual patient prescriptions, ward stock, and controlled substances.
  • Compounding Expertise: Engaging in both non-sterile and sterile compounding, which includes the preparation of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), Chemotherapy, and Central Intravenous Admixture (CIVA).
  • Inventory Oversight: Maintaining accurate inventory control to ensure the availability of medications.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Performing other related duties as assigned to support the pharmacy operations.
Qualifications:
  • Must hold a valid Pharmacy Technician license with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians is an asset.
  • Experience in CIVA and/or chemotherapy preparation is advantageous.
  • Strong oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in computer systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Experience in the production of sterile and non-sterile products is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel between various sites as required.

Work Environment:

This position may require working during days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays based on operational needs.
