Position Overview:

The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, ensuring the safe and effective distribution of medications. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities that contribute to patient care and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Medication Management: Responsible for the dispensing and distribution of medications, including individual patient prescriptions, ward stock, and controlled substances.
  • Compounding: Engage in both non-sterile and sterile compounding, including specialized preparations such as Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), Chemotherapy, and Central Intravenous Admixture (CIVA).
  • Inventory Oversight: Maintain accurate inventory control to ensure the availability of necessary medications and supplies.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervising pharmacist.

Qualifications:
  • Must hold a valid Pharmacy Technician license from the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians is an asset.
  • Experience in CIVA and/or chemotherapy preparation is advantageous.
  • Strong oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in computer systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Experience in the production of sterile and non-sterile products is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel between various healthcare sites as required.

Additional Information:

Work hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays, subject to operational needs.
