Position Overview:

The Overnight Pharmacy Distribution Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care. This position involves working closely with the Pharmacy Team to prioritize patient-centered services.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Pharmacy Team to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Perform dispensary tasks including medication order processing and medication profile assessments.
  • Provide essential drug information to healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Verify all medication orders for hospitalized patients.
  • Conduct therapeutic drug monitoring to ensure optimal medication management.
  • Engage in hospital committees as necessary.
  • Oversee and/or execute patient dispensing activities, including computerized order entry, unit dose preparation, centralized IV admixture services, TPN, and Chemotherapy, while understanding automated systems.
  • Address and resolve daily clinical challenges.
  • Support the implementation of pharmacy initiatives aimed at improving patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Must hold a current license (or be eligible) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Part A of the registry.
  • Relevant clinical experience is preferred.
  • Exemplary attendance and punctuality record.
  • Willingness to travel and work across various sites.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong clinical assessment capabilities for identifying and resolving medication-related issues.
  • Proven ability to apply clinical judgment in analyzing and addressing clinical challenges.
  • Experience with Meditech software is preferred.
  • Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the role.
